TOGETHER APART
A pandemic poem
Through a global lens, moments emerge that cast shadows across national borders. The significance of differences and parallels shifts under the influence of a pandemic. TOGETHER APART is a short film capturing a moment of shock—one that has yet to find its conclusion. Filmmakers from Japan, China, Israel, Poland, England, and Germany come together in a collective self-portrait in motion, at a time when movement was not supposed to exist. Together, they create a language that remains in constant motion within TOGETHER APART. The film offers a poetic perspective on the in-between of an experience—on trauma and memory, fear and urgency—and, in its hybrid form, provides ever-evolving connections within the ebb and flow of the pandemic.
The material for TOGETHER APART was collected globally and discussed exclusively via digital Zoom sessions. It serves as both a testament to this extraordinary time and a time capsule for ten individuals who, through this collaboration, found ways to connect across borders.
