HEAVY BOOTS
When words are missing - mourning in an illustrated form
On 164 pages, heavy boots explores one of the most profound emotions: grief. In delicate tones, furious colors, defiance, and devotion, this comic attempts to capture every facet of mourning within its pages. Because grief is indescribable and intangible - it doesn’t only manifest in tears or quiet remembrance, but also in a scream that demands space, in the objects left behind, or in the monotonous rhythm of vacuuming, turning sorrow into a steady pulse. heavy boots takes on the challenge - giving grief its pages, searching for comfort, exposing tired clichés, and finding refuge between keepsakes, cables, and overgrown brambles - even if only for a fleeting moment.
HELLA LUX notes: As long as our online shop is still under construction, you can order the comic via mail.

Info
HEAVY BOOTS translates the content of the performance film wearing heavy boots into the format of a performance comic. In doing so, HELLA LUX continues its exploration of transmedia translation practices, comparing, blending, and blurring the boundaries between different artistic mediums.
The comic is the second part of the grief trilogy, which includes the award-winning performance film wearing heavy boots and the lecture performance BOOTS.
We also offer workshops and seminars on media translation methods at universities and professional development centers. For more information, visit our service section.
