An audio walk about perception, truth, and everything in between

Cat and ___ ? The mechanisms that our brain uses to fill in the blanks are made up of complex, cognitive processes. What collection of experiences and different reference systems have our internalized systems gathered so that they can quickly form our answers and decisions? And how accurate is our internal autopilot really? What if instead of after „cats and…“ a dog doesn’t follow but allergies? In Hammer&Egg we playfully examine the unknown abyss between our assumptions and perceived truths and facts and research.

Instructions

The walk starts in Hamburg’s HafenCity and is available anytime via the Storydive app in both German and English. How does it work?

1. Download the free Storydive app on your smartphone.

2. Preload the HAMMER&EGG audio walk at home (this saves mobile data).

3. Before you begin: Charge your phone and don’t forget your headphones!

4. Start your adventure! Head to the designated starting point at the Busanbrücke in Hamburg, in front of the Maritime Museum Hamburg.

Audio-Based: For Hammer&Egg, HELLA LUX, in collaboration with the startup Storydive, conducted research within the Media Future EU Program on how Real World Data can be used in audio walks. This walk integrates real-time environmental factors such as the opening hours of locations along the route, the day of the week, crowd density data, and even the water level (ebb or flood) to create an even more personalized and immersive experience.

Accessibility: The audio walk is permanently available via the Storydive app, and the route is fully accessible. There are three interactive moments that play with movement and speed, but these can be skipped without major content loss in case of mobility limitations.

BRING THIS WALK TO YOUR CITY! This audio walk was originally designed for the streets and atmosphere of HafenCity, but its script was developed in a modular format. This allows HELLA LUX to adapt and transfer it to different locations using the Storydive app. Interested? Get in touch with us!
